Captain Jim Beauvais
Captain Jim has been boating on Ipswich Bay since he was 10. A former member of the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club, current member of Sandy Bay Yacht Club, Rockport. He has sailed 9 trips to Bermuda, extensive cruising in the British Virgin Islands as well as the Maine coast as far East as North Haven. Captain Jim is US Coast Guard Certified Captain.
Educator & Crew - John
John grew up boating and fishing on Ipswich Bay. He has had his own boat since 1989, also the year he started lobstering. In Massachusetts you can buy a student lobster permit, which John did while in school. This permit allows the holder to run 25 traps and sell the catch. John will share his knowledge of lobster with you.

“We took the tour on Sunday, July 17, at 11:30 a.m. The weather was perfect, as were our “hosts”. The guys are so knowledgeable, are extremely accommodating, and they have a good sense of humor. That’s a plus in my book. We learned about the history of the area and we also learned a lot about lobsters. I can now tell how to identify a male vs. a female, if the female has eggs, and how to determine if they’re big enough to keep or if you have to to release them back. We saw seals playing, learned about the three local lighthouses and had a fun and relaxing time. There were 2 other couples on the tour, so we had some interesting conversations. The smaller sized tour was really perfect. They also had cold water, beverages and sunscreen on board for their guests. It was one of the best boat tours we’ve taken and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful excursion.”
